Filmography on The Internet Movie Database

Back in 1997 Heather’s professional career started with nearly 2 years in Rep theatre, her professional debut being a ‘loverly’ stint as Eliza Doolittle in “My Fair Lady”, followed by an acclaimed performance as Miranda in Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” at The New Vic Theatre.

She soon swapped the stage paint for the lights – camera – action of television appearing in a variety of the box’s favourite shows, including “Emmerdale”, “The Bill” and BBC’s “Dangerfield”.

Heather soon progressed to leading lady and went on to push the phallic boundaries in major drama series. In “London’s Burning” she played  Sally Fields, the only female firefighter on the show and stayed for 4 series. Later she donned a different uniform to play the first ever female member of the SAS, Becca Gallagher, in “Ultimate Force” alongside Ross Kemp for 2 series.

Showing her versatility as an actress, Heather’s next major role was totally against type as single mum Fiona Jones in 2 series of Kay Mellor’s “The Chase” for the BBC, with Gaynor Faye and Nicola Stephenson.

Most recently, Heather has starred as DS Sam Murray in the BBC 3 drama “Lip Service”. The show was groundbreaking stuff and received well in the UK and internationally. To the delight of ‘Team Sam’ and the ‘Lip Servants’ it was recently announced that “Lip Service” would return for a 2nd series.

As well as acting, Heather has always had a passion for music. She started learning piano at the age of 6 and began singing and writing music at an early age. While at drama school she held a 3 year Sunday jazz residency at Velvet, Canal St, Manchester. She was also once signed to Simon Cowell’s label BMG, releasing a cover of “The Rose” on the back of “London’s Burning”. But despite continuing to write and sing in her spare time, the quick success of her acting career meant that her music was kept on the back burner. UNTIL NOW!!

2010 was a massive year for Heather. She was placed in the Top 40 of ‘The Independent on Sunday’s’ annual Pink List and she made the decision to throw her white Gretsch guitar over her shoulder, dust off her lyric book and embark on an acoustic, solo tour. Throughout November and December, she drove around the country selling out 180 capacity venues within hours of tickets going on sale. Her Twitter following steadily rose beyond the 8,000 followers mark and she was besieged by messages from fans asking for more gig dates and for her to make an album.

She duly recorded an acoustic album for fans entitled This is me which has now sold thousands of copies through her website. The website alone received in excess of 460,000 hits in the first 5 months of going live.

She will also be appearing at many of the Summer festivals and her first studio album will be recorded and released in the latter part of the year. She will also return to Glasgow in the Spring to record series 2 of “Lip Service”.
